Who is Animal Safehouse of Brevard?

Animal Safehouse of Brevard is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to two vital missions: rescuing pets belonging to people fleeing domestic violence and saving dogs from euthanasia at high-kill shelters in neighboring counties. Their unique approach fills a critical gap in the community — providing safe, temporary foster homes for pets who otherwise might be left behind or worse, euthanized.

Many victims of domestic abuse hesitate to leave because they fear for their pets’ safety if left behind. Animal Safehouse changes that narrative by offering safe placement for these pets, giving their owners peace of mind to escape dangerous situations. In addition, Animal Safehouse rescues dogs from overcrowded shelters where thousands face euthanasia due to space constraints, economic hardships, and other social challenges.

Partnering for a Cause

Animal Safehouse collaborates with local domestic violence shelters including the Salvation Army, The Women’s Center, and Serene Harbor, alongside county sheriff departments and animal services. Their work relies heavily on community support and volunteers to ensure as many pets and families as possible get the help they need.
